ROBERTOCASSAN & JOHNMURATORE

Highly-acclaimed classical guitarist John Muratore and internationally known accordionist Roberto Cassan met in Montreal in 2005 while performing with Robert DeCormier and Counterpoint Chorale. The duo is known for their arrangements of classical and contemporary music, which combine the intimacy of chamber music with the spontaneity of jazz. Their repertoire, which ranges from traditional European classical to contemporary Amercian, Latin American, tango, folk and jazz-influenced compositions, displays the diversity of their musical interests and influences. John and Roberto have appeared at a variety of venues throughout the New England area, including the Tsai Performance Center, Jordan Hall, WGBH Radio’s Classical Performances, VPR (Vermont Public Radio), Chamberworks Concert Series at Dartmouth College and The Tony Williams Dance Center as featured musicians in Williams’ Ephemera. In July 2009 the duo was featured at the 4th annual Main Squeeze Accordion Festival in NYC and were praised in a Lucid Culture review for their “fascinating, cutting-edge program.” Their first CD, Domenie, was released in Spring 2010.
